The KC Regional Housing Alliance, the National Housing Provider Coalition, and the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors hosted a listening session in Kansas City on May 28th, 2024, to provide Sandra Thompson, the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and staff from the FHFA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac feedback on the restrictive regulations they are considering for enterprise loans.

Lawrence Yun – the Economist for the National Association of Realtors shared his perspective on how to solve affordable housing – BUILD MORE HOUSES!!
Jessa Molina – Landlord Liason for Johnson County Planning, Housing & Community Development Presented an Overview of the Incentive Program for Housing Vouchers they created in Johnson County.
Jennifer Justus – Realtor and Housing Provider discussed the number of properties being sold from local mom-and-pop housing providers to out-of-state and out-of-country landlords who mistreat their renters.
Kyle Niemann – Realtor who loves digging into data- looked at the real estate market numbers and how they changed when new restrictive regulations were passed.
Dan Kelly – landlord-tenant attorney here in Kansas City presented how just-cause evictions are bad for everyone.
Ron Ireland, a local Lender shared the impact restrictions on loans would have on investors.
Pedro Zamora the Executive Director of the Hispanic Economic Development Corporation shared the impact these restrictions would have on Black and Hispanic families.
Guest Panel made up of Sam Alpert, multi-family developer, Brendon Pishny, local Housing provider and President of Landlords of Johnson County, and Eddie Guinn, housing provider, developer, property manager and the Vice President of Landlord Inc. discussed how all of these factors discussed this morning would affect the local housing provider.
