  1. Good evening my name is Latrice Mitchell and my son guidance counselor sent me this link to reach out for rent assistance and am I able to qualify I’m getting unemployment at this time .. But I’m not behind

    1. Latrice – if you are behind in rent or utilities due to a COVID reason then most likely you should qualify for rent assistance. Please join us at 10am or if you are at work, watch the replay. I would also say to reach out to your housing providers, you can work together to apply and get back rent paid and up to 3 months of rent paid going forward. You can also dial 211 RIGHT now or visit 211KC.org and answer a few questions and they can help connect you to the right program. But you will need to partner with your housing provider to get it done.

  2. Called 211 today 3/22/2021 It’s unfortunate and very misleading .. I was informed that I MUST have an eviction notice before receiving assistance. What in the world, what kind of sense does that make. I have to almost curbside before Maybe I get assistance. Either 211 is not educated on what updated resources are out there or this is all false advertisement.

    1. Michelle, NO you don’t need an eviction notice according to Missouri and Kansas and I would think Kansas City Missouri = you do need to have a notice of delinquent rent from your housing provider. Where are you located so I can direct you to the right federal program. For assistance from some of the charities you do need an eviction notice as they are help of the last resort, but for the SAFHR program from the state of Missouri (covers all of Missouri EXCEPT Kansas City), the KERA Program from the state of Kansas (covers all but Wichita) or for Kansas City Missouri you should not need an eviction notice, just proof you are behind on rent.
